BIO

EpharGy, also known as Kym, is 23 and from Adelaide, Australia. Born in Seoul, South Korea, I was adopted at the early age of 5 1/2 months, and have lived in Adelaide ever since.
I currently work in a small plastics factory doing many differing jobs, which keeps work interesting from day to day. I am still unsure on whether or not to go to university and get a degree in something and with a strong desire to continue traveling, locking myself into study for a few years will kind of hinder that.

This site will cover many aspects of me, it is more than a blog, it will also have photo galleries from events I shoot at as well as info on upcoming events that im playing at or attending, you will also be able to grab my latest mix as well.

There will also be some stuff from my other passion, Photography, ranging from art pieces to landscapes as well as event photos and photoshoots, most of the art/landscape photography will be hosted over at my DeviantArt page, but most of my event shoots and photo shoots will be found in the Gallery.

PHOTOGRAPHY

As already stated, I have a keen interest in photography and still developing my skills, although I often lack the motivation to actually go out and take photos, this has been improving as my skills have been improving.

I currently shoot with a Canon EOS 20D with a Tamron 28-200 3.8-5.6, the lens being on loan from my Dad, i generally carry a Canon 50mm 1.8 as well my Canon 580EX Speedlite. On the post production side of things, I touch up my images with Adobe Photoshop CS2 with contrast and colour adjustments being my most frequently used corrections.

DJ

Although always having a very diverse taste in music, it wasn’t until hearing some of my brothers ‘Trance’ CDs, that i got really hooked into dance music, this would have been around 98/99. The ability to seamlessly take a listener on a journey full of highs and lows captivated me. It wasn’t until 2000 (I think anyway, it could of been earlier) I had my first taste of whats involved in DJing when my brother got his Technics 1210MKII’s, while he didnt have them for much more than a year or two, I still picked up the basics from watching and listening, not really having the confidence to get up and try.

Skip forward a couple of years and after going to a few events, my tastes expanded to Progressive, Techno, Hard House as well as Trance, but it was Techno which really caught my interest, it was around this time my best friend went out and got his shiny Technics 1200MKII’s that I really managed to learn to mix, playing mainly Hard House due to its simplicity, we both got the basics soon figured out. He branched off to mainly buying trance and I started building my Techno collection up, after about a year, we jointly bought all my brothers records which doubled our collection of vinyl, but more importantly started our collections in other styles, mainly Progressive and some Breaks.

Fast-Forwarding to the present day, I still don’t have my own turntables, but will in the next few months hopefully, my friend has now completed his setup, by adding 2 Pioneer CJ800’s and a Pioneer DJM600, the standard club setup, add two 15″ JBL EON G2’s and there is some serious noise coming from his house or one of the parties we play at. To date, I have played out at a few of the Techno nights in Adelaide, and will hopefully play out more again this year.
